FAQs

What are some Air Conditioner related Common Issues?

Due to Dubai’s extreme temperatures, it is common for Air Conditioners to run 24/7. Due to this, some common issues are water leakage, over or under cooling, duct blockage, tripping, coil freeze up, foul smells and indoor air pollution.

what are some common fixes for Loud Air Conditioner noises?

If the noise is in the outside unit, then Open the air conditioner cabinet and locate the fan. Remove any debris you see on or around the blades. If the problem is not debris, then the blade itself might be loose. If so, then you can tighten the screw at the hub with a screwdriver. The blades might not be straight. A slight bend might be touching the body and causing a noise. You can bend the blade back into place or replace it by opening the screwdriver and attaching a new blade.
Other fixes like lubrication and coil fins might need more experienced engineers to fix. Our technicians at HomeGenie are well trained to fix these issues quickly and bring your AC back to working conditions again.

AC Services in Dubai, UAE

Returning from a long, hard day’s work to a quiet, cozy and cool home is what we all want. However, a noisy Air Conditioner unit can ruin your peace, and its loud hum can trouble your neighbors and wreak havoc to your sleep. Diagnosing a noisy AC problem to the earliest can prevent more serious problems down the line.

Common causes for Air Conditioning Noise
An air conditioning noise is divided into two kinds depending on where the sound is coming from. Noise on the outside compressor unit can be loud and may cause malfunctions and reduced cooling. Some common causes include:
1) A worn out compressor can be noisier due to more friction between the parts and general wear and tear of the internal components. A noisy compressor needs to be changed.

2) Faulty Fans – A compressor unit consists of two fans. If both the fans are not kept clean regularly, it can cause a humming noise. Accumulated dust and debris can be cleaned easily by following your AC manual. In case the fan blades are broken or bent due to rocks or poor maintenance, the fans’ blades need to be replaced. This has to be done by professionals and should not be tried by you.

3) Faulty motor – The motor is the noisiest part of the Air Conditioner, and it makes the most of the noise. However, in normal operation, the machine is well lubricated and creates no or very little noise. Due to aging components or poor maintenance, the motors become weaker and draw more current to run causing more noise. Over several years of operation, the lubrication may break down making the motor loud and noisy. The fan motor is usually not repairable and will need to be replaced if it is noisy. The belts on the motor might also be defective and cause a lot of noise due to friction. Belts are not normally an expensive repair. A defective motor belt is a common reason behind a noisy air conditioner.

The internal Unit may also be making a noise. Although more rare, this issue is caused by vibrations, dust clogged in fins and less lubrication. These are easy fixes and can be solved at home with limited tools and expertise.
